Battlefield 6 Season 4 Brings Back Classic Jets, Introduces Naval Warfare, and Confirms Top Gun Crossover
EA has officially detailed Battlefield 6’s next major update, Version 1.4.1.0, arriving on July 21 alongside Season 4: Pacific Front. The update is set to introduce large-scale naval combat, new maps, weapons, and vehicles, while also reviving a feature that longtime Battlefield fans haven’t seen in more than two decades. On top of that, EA has now confirmed a crossover with Top Gun.
Classic Two-Seater Jets Return After 21 Years
One of the biggest highlights of Season 4 is the return of two-seat fixed-wing fighter jets, a feature absent from the Battlefield series since Battlefield 2 in 2005, according to Eurogamer.
Players will once again be able to take to the skies in iconic aircraft including the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the legendary F-14 Tomcat, bringing back cooperative aerial combat that many veteran players have been hoping to see return.
EA Confirms Top Gun Collaboration
Following the reveal trailer—which featured unmistakable Top Gun music composed by Harold Faltermeyer and several cinematic nods to the franchise—EA officially confirmed the collaboration on July 17.
The crossover introduces three recognizable characters from Top Gun: Maverick, each voiced by the actors who portrayed them in the film:
- Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw — voiced by Miles Teller
- Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd — voiced by Lewis Pullman
- Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates — voiced by Charles Parnell
Players will also be able to unlock a collection of Top Gun-inspired cosmetic items.
Speaking about joining the franchise, Miles Teller said:
“It’s a huge honor to appear in a long-running franchise like Battlefield with its millions of fans, and talented people working on it. And with Top Gun, it’s like two titans meeting.”
Charles Parnell added:
“I’ll actually be the one giving orders in-game, which I love. If it’s my voice that pushes players on to clutch a win, that’s awesome.”
Lewis Pullman also shared his excitement:
“Battlefield is very intense, whether you’re in the sky or on the ground or fighting in the sea. In that way, it’s a perfect pairing with Top Gun.”
Carrier Strike Blends Air, Sea, and Ground Combat
Season 4 also introduces an all-new multiplayer mode called Carrier Strike.
The mode centers around massive combined-arms battles where teams fight across land, sea, and air while attempting to destroy the opposing team’s aircraft carrier. According to EA, the experience is designed to combine Battlefield’s large-scale warfare with the high-speed aerial action associated with Top Gun.
The crossover content itself won’t be available immediately when Season 4 launches. Instead, it arrives during Phase 2 on August 18, the same day the beloved Wake Island map returns to the game.
Season 4’s final phase, Tidal Strike, launches on September 15 and introduces a new collection event packed with additional rewards.
Pacific Front Adds Naval Combat and New Battlefield
The centerpiece of Season 4 is Tsuru Reef, a brand-new battlefield set across a sprawling Pacific island chain built for infantry, naval, and aerial combat.
To support the new naval focus, Battlefield 6 introduces a dedicated wave simulation system that causes boats to rise and fall with the ocean, changing visibility and creating more dynamic firefights on the water.
Although Wake Island is also returning in Season 4, it will arrive later rather than being available on launch day.
New Vehicles and Weapons
Season 4 expands Battlefield 6’s arsenal with several new vehicles and firearms.
New vehicles include:
- RCV-90 Patrol Boat, capable of carrying four players.
- 7.7m NSW RHIB, a fast four-seat inflatable boat equipped with a mounted machine gun.
Players can also unlock several new weapons, including:
- BROD 3
- EF88
- VSMM
Additional weapon attachments are also being added, allowing for more customization options across loadouts.
Battlefield 6 Season 4 Release Date
Battlefield 6 Season 4: Pacific Front launches on July 21, bringing naval warfare, the long-awaited return of two-seat fighter jets, a new Pacific battlefield, fresh weapons and vehicles, and the first phase of one of Battlefield’s biggest crossover events yet. The Top Gun collaboration follows on August 18, with even more content scheduled to arrive throughout the remainder of the season.
