Rockstar Games is preparing to give fans another major look at Grand Theft Auto VI, with an “extended look” scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27.
The presentation will debut for Netflix members at 3 PM ET, giving the streaming service a six-hour exclusivity window. Rockstar will then publish the video on its own YouTube channel at 9 PM ET later that same day.
Rockstar and Netflix Team Up for GTA 6
This isn’t the first time Rockstar Games and Netflix have worked together. Several Rockstar titles, including games from the GTA series, previously appeared in the Netflix Games catalog. While those GTA releases have since been removed, Red Dead Redemption remains available through Netflix.
Netflix VP Brandon Riegg described the GTA 6 partnership as an opportunity for the streaming platform to host one of gaming’s biggest upcoming reveals.
“Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right. The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first,” Netflix VP Brandon Riegg said (via The Hollywood Reporter). “It’s a reflection of what we hope Netflix is becoming: a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience.”
Fans Have Been Waiting More Than a Year
The August presentation will end a lengthy drought for GTA 6 fans. Rockstar’s previous trailer arrived in May 2025, meaning players have been waiting well over a year for another substantial look at the highly anticipated game.
Netflix has already created a dedicated landing page for the upcoming GTA 6 presentation, while Rockstar has also updated the official GTA 6 website ahead of the reveal.
With the August 27 date now locked in, attention will naturally turn toward exactly what Rockstar intends to show. The description of the presentation as an “extended look” could make this a particularly significant showcase for the game.
New GTA 6 Artwork Shows Lucia and Jason
Fans don’t have to wait until August 27 to get something new from GTA 6, however. Rockstar has also released fresh artwork featuring protagonists Lucia and Jason.
One detail in particular has already caught the community’s attention. Jason can be seen wearing a “Leonida” shirt featuring a manatee riding a surfboard.
That imagery has renewed speculation that surfing could potentially appear as a gameplay mechanic in GTA 6. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed anything on that front, though, so for now it’s simply another theory for fans to debate while waiting for the next reveal.
GTA 6 Launches November 19
Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Expectations surrounding the game are enormous. GTA 6 is widely positioned to become the biggest video game release of 2026 and potentially one of the largest entertainment launches ever.
Before that happens, all eyes will be on August 27, when Rockstar finally gives fans its next extended look at GTA 6 — with Netflix members getting to see it first.
