Diablo 4 Season 15 Revives Legendary Items From Across the Franchise
Blizzard has officially revealed the first details for Diablo 4 Season 15, and longtime fans have plenty to look forward to. The upcoming season will reintroduce several of the series’ most iconic legendary items, including the legendary Stone of Jordan and Ring of Royal Grandeur, alongside new gameplay systems, open-world activities, and quality-of-life improvements.
While Season 14 received a mixed reception from the community, Blizzard hopes to turn things around by giving players an early look at what’s coming. A public test realm (PTR) for Season 15 will be available August 4 through August 11, allowing players to experience many of the new features before launch.
Classic Diablo Items Return as Legacy Uniques
According to Blizzard’s official announcement, Season 15 introduces a brand-new category called Legacy Uniques, bringing back memorable equipment from the original Diablo, Diablo II, and Diablo III.
In total, 10 classic items are making their return, all redesigned as permanent Unique items for Diablo 4. Blizzard describes these additions as items that will be “instantly recognizable to veteran players.”
Five Legacy Uniques can be equipped by every class, while the remaining five are restricted to specific classes.
Legacy Uniques Available to All Classes
- Leoric’s Crown (Helm)
- Nemesis Bracers (Gloves)
- Ring of Royal Grandeur (Ring)
- Stone of Jordan (Ring)
- Squirt’s Blouse (Chest)
- Inspired by Diablo III’s Squirt’s Necklace, reimagined as a chest armor.
Class-Specific Legacy Uniques
- Arioc’s Needle (Two-Handed Polearm)
- Barbarian, Druid, Spiritborn
- Henri’s Perquisition (Offhand Focus)
- Sorcerer, Necromancer, Warlock
- In-Geom (One-Handed Sword)
- Barbarian, Druid, Rogue, Necromancer, Paladin, Warlock
- The Furnace (Two-Handed Mace)
- Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin, Warlock
- Messerschmidt’s Reaver (Two-Handed Axe)
- Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin, Warlock
For Diablo II veterans, the return of Stone of Jordan is likely to be the biggest highlight. Meanwhile, Diablo III players will instantly recognize favorites such as Ring of Royal Grandeur, Leoric’s Crown, and Squirt’s Necklace, now adapted into Squirt’s Blouse.
First Look at Some of the New Item Effects
Blizzard hasn’t revealed every Unique affix yet, but it has shared previews for several of the returning items.
Some examples include:
- Leoric’s Crown now counts as a jewelry item and increases the effectiveness of socketed gems by 75% to 100%.
- Henri’s Perquisition boosts the player’s Primary Stat by 85% to 115% of Dexterity.
- Nemesis Bracers summon an Elite enemy pack whenever players activate a Shrine.
Additional item details will be revealed closer to the season’s release.
New Overland Activities Expand the Open World
Season 15 isn’t just about nostalgic loot.
Blizzard is adding more Overland activities, giving players fresh objectives while exploring Sanctuary. These include:
- Challenge dungeons hidden throughout the open world.
- New demonic ambush encounters.
- Additional exploration-focused content designed to make the overworld feel more rewarding.
Rebirth Lets Players Reuse Existing Characters
Another highly requested feature arriving with Season 15 is Rebirth.
Instead of creating a brand-new seasonal hero every few months, players will be able to convert an existing character into a seasonal one, making it easier to continue playing favorite builds without starting entirely from scratch.
Soul Splinters Introduce Powerful New Build Choices
Season 15 also adds a new progression mechanic called Soul Splinters.
These powerful socketable items provide significant bonuses but always come with meaningful drawbacks, encouraging players to carefully balance risk and reward.
Examples Blizzard shared include Soul Splinters that:
- Increase maximum Health while reducing Primary Resource.
- Greatly increase damage but reduce Critical Strike Chance by 100%.
- Improve damage reduction at the cost of slower movement speed.
The system is designed to offer more meaningful customization and encourage unique build strategies.
More Reveals Coming at BlizzCon
Blizzard emphasized that the PTR does not include every feature planned for Season 15. Additional announcements and surprises are being saved for BlizzCon, taking place September 12–13.
Season 15 itself is currently expected to launch later in September, following the event.
Blizzard Continues Improving Mythic Items
Season 14 introduced sweeping changes to Mythic items, but many players criticized the overhaul after launch. Blizzard has already addressed some of the biggest concerns through follow-up patches, and Season 15 will continue refining the system.
One of the biggest improvements announced is a more deterministic crafting process for Mythic items, reducing the heavy reliance on random chance and giving players greater control over acquiring top-tier gear.
With legendary items returning, new gameplay systems arriving, and more announcements still on the horizon, Season 15 is shaping up to be one of Diablo 4’s most nostalgic and feature-rich updates yet.
