Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are sounding increasingly confident about the future of Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise. According to series executive producer Julian Gerighty, The Division 3 is shaping up to be something huge – and development is already well underway.
Speaking during the New Game+ Showcase in an interview shared via VGC, Gerighty offered a brief but exciting update on the next chapter of the online action-RPG series.
“The Division 3 is in production, right? This is not a secret; it’s been announced,” Gerighty said. “It’s shaping up to be a monster.”
That confidence isn’t coming out of nowhere. Ubisoft officially confirmed The Division 3 back in 2023, making it clear that the franchise’s future was already in motion. Gerighty emphasized that the team at Massive Entertainment is aiming high once again.
“Within these walls at Massive, we are working extremely hard on something that I think will have as big an impact as Division 1 was,” he added.
Massive Entertainment Still Fully Committed
Earlier this year, rumors began circulating that Gerighty had left Ubisoft, but Massive Entertainment was quick to shut those down. Not only is he still involved with The Division 3, he’s also contributing to multiple projects across the franchise – including The Division 2: Survivors and the mobile title The Division: Resurgence.
Adding to the significance of this moment, 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of The Division franchise, making the development of a major new installment feel especially meaningful for longtime fans.
No Release Date Yet – But Plenty to Watch
At this point, Ubisoft has not shared a release window for The Division 3, so fans will need to stay patient. However, the New Game+ Showcase delivered more than just Division-related news. During the same event, Microsoft and Obsidian Entertainment confirmed that Avowed is set to launch on PS5 on February 17, giving players at least one major RPG to look forward to in the meantime.
While concrete details remain scarce, one thing is clear: The Division 3 is being built with serious ambition, and Massive Entertainment believes it could redefine the franchise once again.
