The Epic Games Store’s weekly giveaway is back with another pair of PC games that you can permanently add to your library without spending anything.
Every Thursday at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, Epic refreshes its selection of free games. There’s always at least one title available, although some weeks feature two or even three.
Claiming the games is straightforward. You’ll need a free Epic Games account with two-factor authentication enabled, and you have one week to add each title to your library. Once claimed, the games remain attached to your account even after the promotion ends.
Epic has already handed out hundreds of PC games through the program, and there’s currently no indication that the weekly giveaways are going away. The company has also expanded its free-game promotions to Android, where players can claim new freebies regularly as well.
This Week’s Free Epic Games
This week’s lineup features System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster and Buried Stars, offering two dramatically different experiences.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster
The legendary 1999 sci-fi horror game returns in an upgraded package courtesy of Nightdive Studios.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster might not be as extensive an overhaul as the impressive remake of the original System Shock, but it gives the classic sequel a welcome technical refresh for modern hardware.
Among the improvements is support for resolutions of up to 4K and frame rates reaching 120fps, making this an appealing opportunity for both returning fans and players who have never experienced the influential sci-fi horror title before.
Buried Stars
The second free game this week takes things in a completely different direction.
Buried Stars is a visual novel centered around the contestants of a popular reality TV survival show. During a live broadcast, disaster strikes when the building hosting the competition suddenly collapses.
The survivors become trapped inside, but escaping the wreckage soon becomes only part of their problem.
A mysterious killer appears to be lurking among them, and as the body count begins to rise, suspicion spreads throughout the group. Trust quickly becomes a precious commodity as the remaining characters attempt to uncover what is really happening before they become the next victims.
Don’t Wait Too Long to Claim Them
Both System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster and Buried Stars are available to claim for a limited time through the Epic Games Store.
As usual, you only need to add them to your library while the promotion is active. Once claimed, they’re yours to keep.
If neither game catches your attention, there are plenty of other free-to-play options available on PC and other platforms, but for fans of classic sci-fi horror or mystery-driven visual novels, this week’s Epic Games Store lineup is certainly worth a look.
