Ubisoft Looks to Its Biggest Franchises for a Financial Recovery
After several difficult years, Ubisoft is putting its faith in some of its most recognizable franchises to help steer the company back toward profitability.
In its latest financial report, Ubisoft revealed a staggering €1.3 billion operating loss for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. While the publisher doesn’t expect an overnight turnaround, it believes upcoming entries in the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon series could play a major role in improving its financial future.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon Targeted for 2027–2029
According to a report from Reuters, Ubisoft expects several major franchise releases to launch during its 2027–28 and 2028–29 fiscal years. Among those projects is believed to be Assassin’s Creed Hexe, one of the next major entries in the long-running stealth-action franchise.
Meanwhile, fans of Far Cry and Ghost Recon are still waiting for brand-new installments. The last Far Cry title launched in 2021, while Ghost Recon hasn’t seen a major release since 2019.
Details about these projects remain limited for now, although reports suggest the next Ghost Recon game may lean heavily into a first-person shooter experience.
More Premium Ubisoft Games Planned Before Then
Ubisoft also mentioned that several “targeted premium games based on established Ubisoft brands” are currently scheduled for release during the company’s 2026–2027 fiscal year.
However, the publisher stopped short of revealing exactly which franchises or titles are included in those plans, leaving fans to speculate about possible announcements in the coming months.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced Already Building Momentum
The biggest Ubisoft launch currently on the calendar is Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, which is set to arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on July 9.
Ubisoft noted in its report that “early preorder momentum” for Resynced “has been particularly strong, notably in China.” The company has also been ramping up marketing efforts, including a real-world treasure hunt tied to the game’s promotion campaign.
Ubisoft Cancels One Project While Supporting The Division
Outside of Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft reportedly scrapped an unannounced life-simulation project that was said to resemble Animal Crossing.
At the same time, the publisher reassured fans that The Division remains an important part of its future plans. That statement comes shortly after executive producer Julian Gerighty left the company to join Electronic Arts and work on the Battlefield series.
Despite the company’s current financial struggles, Ubisoft is clearly hoping its biggest gaming brands can reignite player excitement — and help the publisher regain its footing over the next several years.
