Originally released in 2019, Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 2 reimagined the iconic PS1 survival-horror game for a modern audience. Now, five years later, iPhone, iPad, and Mac users will finally get the opportunity to experience this acclaimed title on their devices.
The Resident Evil 2 remake remains true to the original storyline while enhancing gameplay with updated mechanics, such as the over-the-shoulder third-person perspective. Players will navigate two interwoven narratives, following Claire Redfield—sister of Resident Evil 1’s protagonist, Chris Redfield—and rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy as they struggle to survive the zombie-infested streets of Raccoon City. A standout feature of the remake is the introduction of Mr. X, an unstoppable bioengineered monster that relentlessly hunts the player throughout their journey.
This isn’t the first Resident Evil title to arrive on Apple’s platforms. Resident Evil: Village, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and the Resident Evil 4 remake have already made their way to iOS and Mac, with Village and RE4 being more recent releases than the Resident Evil 2 remake.
A free prologue of Resident Evil 2 will be available for download on Apple’s App Store, allowing gamers to get a taste of the action. However, to play the full game on Apple’s platforms, fans will have to wait a bit longer, with the complete release scheduled for later this year.
