Diablo 4’s Lunar Awakening Event Soars Again With a Huge XP Bonus

Diablo 4 is ushering in the Year of the Snake by bringing back its popular Lunar Awakening event—and this time, the rewards are greater than ever.

Event Dates and Platforms

According to Blizzard, Lunar Awakening will run from February 4–18 across both the Eternal and Seasonal realms of Diablo 4. This limited-time celebration transforms every in-game shrine into a special Lunar Shrine, supercharging the usual shrine abilities with extra benefits.

Lunar Shrines: More Power, More Fun

Just like last year, Lunar Shrines replace standard shrines with versions that offer additional perks. Take the Lunar Artillery Shrine, for example—it still unleashes holy arrows on your foes, but now it can also drop holy bombs that blast away enemies. Similarly, the Lunar Greed Shrine goes beyond simply boosting gold from monster kills; each defeated enemy now has a chance to spawn a Treasure Goblin.

A Bigger XP Boost Than Before

While the unique shrine effects remain unchanged from the 2024 event, Blizzard has sweetened the deal with a heightened experience boost. When you’re under a Lunar Shrine’s effects, you’ll receive a 100% multiplicative XP increase, up from last year’s 50%. This is a fantastic opportunity to rapidly level a new hero or power through endgame Paragon points—especially since leveling in Diablo 4 can already be pretty quick.

Earn Rewards Through Reputation

Every monster you slay while powered up by a Lunar Shrine will contribute to your event reputation, allowing you to progress through a 10-step reward track. Highlights include a new mount, weapon appearances, and a Resplendent Spark needed to craft Mythic Uniques. During the event window, you’ll also find Lunar Awakening–themed items available in Diablo 4’s premium shop.

Season 7 and the Armory Update

The return of Lunar Awakening coincides with Diablo 4’s recent launch of Season 7, dubbed the Season of Witchcraft. This season introduces supernatural powers inspired by Diablo 3’s Witch Doctor—such as Firebats and Piranhado—to help you obliterate hordes of demons.

Additionally, the Armory feature has arrived in both the Eternal and Seasonal realms, allowing up to five custom loadouts per character to encourage build experimentation. The latest update also implemented significant balance changes to Runewords and delivered a considerable nerf to the expansion-exclusive Spiritborn class.
