A New Game of Thrones Mobile Game Takes Flight
Warner Bros. Games and HBO have officially unveiled Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, a brand-new free-to-play mobile strategy game inspired by the hit prequel series House of the Dragon. Alongside the announcement, a fresh trailer gives fans their first real look at the dragon-filled gameplay.
Step Into Westeros 172 Years Before Daenerys
Set 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen, Dragonfire puts players in the role of a Valyrian descendant determined to rise to power. Developed by Warner Bros. Games Boston, the game draws heavily from the events and themes of the TV series.
Your mission? Hatch dragons, raise them, and unleash them in battle as you fight to dominate Westeros. Strategy plays a central role, as you’ll need to carefully manage resources, plan attacks, and outmaneuver rivals.
Familiar Faces and Strategic Alliances
Fans of House of the Dragon will recognize key characters like Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower, who appear alongside newly created characters exclusive to the game.
Just like in the show, success isn’t just about brute force. Players must build alliances, navigate political tensions, and make calculated decisions to come out on top.
Campaign System Keeps the Action Fresh
One of the standout features in Dragonfire is its campaign system. These “epic scenarios” unfold over roughly eight weeks, each offering unique objectives and story developments.
However, there’s a twist – each stage within a campaign is only available for a limited time. This encourages players to stay active and engaged if they want to complete objectives and earn rewards.
Completing campaign goals unlocks stronger dragons, which become essential for tackling tougher challenges in future scenarios.
Pre-Registration Now Open
Players can already pre-register for Game of Thrones: Dragonfire through the App Store, Google Play, or the game’s official website.
Pre-registration comes with perks, including:
- An in-game reward at launch
- A notification when the game becomes available to download
While the game has only just been officially announced, it has actually been live in select regions for some time as part of an early testing phase.
Another Entry in a Growing Mobile Lineup
Dragonfire joins the expanding lineup of mobile titles in the Game of Thrones universe, following games like Game of Thrones: Conquest.
WB Games’ Bigger Strategy
The Game of Thrones franchise is one of four major pillars Warner Bros. Games is focusing on moving forward, alongside DC, Harry Potter, and Mortal Kombat.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery (WB Games’ parent company) has reportedly entered an acquisition deal with Paramount, which is expected to close this year. It’s still unclear how this potential buyout might impact WB Games or its future projects.
