Night City is getting another major makeover. Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 introduces fresh missions, new customization options, expanded combat mechanics, and several long-awaited improvements, all while celebrating the arrival of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 on Netflix.
Developer CD Projekt Red has revealed an impressive collection of additions inspired by the anime’s latest season, alongside technical upgrades and quality-of-life improvements designed to make exploring Night City even better.
Update 2.5 launches on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version scheduled to arrive a few days afterward.
Here’s everything coming to Cyberpunk 2077 in the latest update.
A New Edgerunners Prequel Mission Arrives
One of the biggest additions is Clampdown, an entirely new quest connected to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2.
CD Projekt Red is keeping most of the story under wraps, but the mission will serve as a prequel to the anime’s second season. Several familiar voice actors from the show are returning to reprise their characters, making this an exciting addition for Edgerunners fans.
To unlock Clampdown, players must first complete The Heist and finish two gigs for Wakako.
Dress Like King From Edgerunners Season 2
Players who want to bring some anime-inspired fashion into Night City can unlock a new five-piece clothing set modeled after King’s outfit from the second season of Edgerunners.
It’s another way to connect the game’s world with its animated counterpart while giving V a fresh look.
Explore Night City With a Guided Tour
Not every adventure in Cyberpunk 2077 needs to involve shootouts and dangerous mercenary contracts.
The new Night City Tours quest offers a more relaxed experience, taking players on a guided journey through the metropolis with Richard Knight, the city’s founder.
Described as a cozy mission with an underlying mystery, this new activity encourages players to appreciate Night City’s architecture, history, and hidden details.
There are also secrets waiting to be uncovered, so the tour promises more than just sightseeing.
Dual-Wielding Finally Comes to Cyberpunk 2077
A new perk called Double Trouble allows players to equip two handguns simultaneously, opening the door to aggressive new combat strategies.
Game director Pawel Sasko explained that players will be able to purchase new skills and develop completely different character builds around this mechanic.
Whether you’re looking to overwhelm enemies with rapid gunfire or create a stylish gunslinger build, dual-wielding introduces another layer of variety to combat.
Photo Mode is also receiving additional poses designed specifically for characters carrying two weapons.
Console Players Are Finally Getting Mod Support
Modding has long been one of the biggest advantages of playing Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, but Update 2.5 is bringing additional customization possibilities to consoles.
CD Projekt Red has collaborated with prominent mod creators to introduce a curated modding system similar to the one used in The Witcher 3 Remastered.
Players will be able to access a selection of approved mods directly through the game’s main menu and download them without needing external tools.
The feature will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
However, there’s an important restriction: achievements and trophies will be disabled when playing a modded save on consoles.
Console Players Get a Field-of-View Slider
Another frequently requested feature is finally making its way to console versions of Cyberpunk 2077.
Players can now adjust their field of view (FOV) through the settings menu, allowing them to widen their perspective while exploring Night City or engaging in combat.
This should be particularly useful for those who prefer a broader view of their surroundings.
Cyberware Customization Gets a Major Upgrade
Cyberpunk 2077 has always been about combining technology with personal style, and Update 2.5 takes that concept further.
Five new Glamdoc vendors are arriving in Night City, offering cosmetic customization specifically for cyberware.
Players will have access to 40 new cyberware appearances, including different colors and manufacturer-inspired designs.
Each Glamdoc specializes in unique cyberware collections, giving players more opportunities to personalize their character’s appearance.
Whether you’re looking for sleek corporate chrome or something more unconventional, there should be plenty of new combinations to experiment with.
New Outfits, Hairstyles, and Vehicle Skins
Traditional fashion is getting attention, too.
Update 2.5 introduces new clothing and hairstyle options, alongside several outfits that were previously distributed through Twitch Drops.
Players can purchase clothing from different collections across Night City.
Here’s where to find the new fashion collections:
- Maxiwear: Heywood, Arroyo, and Little China
- Jinguji: City Center
- NetWatch: Kabuki and Japantown
- IconAmerica: Pacifica, Badlands, and Northside
The NUS Infiltrator clothing set, previously available through Twitch Drops, can now be purchased at clothing vendors in Kabuki and Japantown.
Vehicle enthusiasts also have something to look forward to, with four new Twintone skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech available through Twitch Drops.
Photo Mode Gets Trading Card Frames
Players who enjoy capturing cinematic screenshots can now give their images a collectible-card aesthetic.
Update 2.5 introduces frames inspired by the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, allowing users to transform their Photo Mode creations into personalized trading cards.
Combined with the new dual-wielding poses, this offers even more ways to create memorable screenshots.
Twelve New Tarot Cards to Discover
Night City’s supernatural mysteries are expanding with the addition of 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards.
These collectibles are scattered throughout the city and are connected to an extension of the existing Fool on the Hill side quest.
Scanning any of the new cards activates the additional quest, encouraging players to track down the entire collection.
The Tarot menu has also been reorganized into separate Major Arcana and Minor Arcana sections, making it easier to follow your progress.
Collecting all 12 new cards will unlock a special reward.
Quality-of-Life Improvements Make Night City Easier to Navigate
Beyond the new missions and customization features, Update 2.5 introduces several practical improvements.
These changes focus on making inventory management, saved games, and accessibility options more convenient.
Quality-of-Life Changes
- Better save organization: Saved games in the Load Game menu are now grouped by individual playthroughs.
- Improved stash management: Apartment and vehicle storage now include item filters to help players find equipment faster.
- Modded save indicators: Save files containing mods receive a dedicated icon in the Load Game menu. Console achievements and trophies are unavailable while using modded saves.
- Console FOV controls: A field-of-view slider has been added to console versions.
- Updated AMD FSR options: FSR 3 upscaling has been removed, while FSR 2.1, FSR 4, and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain supported.
- Updated account menus: CD PROJEKT RED Account connectivity, My Rewards, and telemetry consent menus have received improvements.
These smaller adjustments should make managing multiple characters and navigating the game’s systems more straightforward.
Major Graphics and Performance Improvements
Update 2.5 also delivers a collection of technical enhancements aimed at improving visual quality and performance across supported platforms.
New Technology Features
DLSS 4.5 Support
Cyberpunk 2077 now supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, including up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and the second-generation Transformer Model.
These additions offer new options for players with compatible NVIDIA hardware.
Glasses-Free 3D Support
Players using compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors can experience glasses-free 3D effects.
A new Motion Comfort setting allows users to balance the intensity of the 3D presentation with viewing comfort.
Mac Improvements
Mac users gain support for MetalFX Frame Interpolation and Denoising, expanding the platform’s available graphics technologies.
FSR Anti-Lag 2
A dedicated settings toggle has been introduced for AMD FSR Anti-Lag 2.
Performance Optimization
The update includes broader performance improvements, with particular attention given to ray tracing and PlayStation 5 Pro.
Enhanced HDR
HDR rendering has been refined to deliver more accurate brightness, contrast, and color reproduction on compatible displays.
Important Bug Fixes in Update 2.5
CD Projekt Red has also addressed several frustrating issues affecting gameplay and technical functionality.
The update includes the following fixes:
- Nintendo Switch 2: Resolved an issue that could incorrectly display a “Save failed – insufficient space” message when attempting to save.
- PlayStation 5 HDR: Fixed a problem where changing HDR settings did not produce the expected results.
- Things Done Changed quest: Corrected a bug that could cause the Delamain cab to become stuck after colliding with another vehicle, preventing players from progressing.
- Film Grain: Fixed an issue where enabling the Film Grain option had no visible effect.
- Enemy scanning: Resolved a control conflict that could cause V to crouch or stand while tagging enemies under certain control schemes.
- Third-Person Camera: Restored missing controller configuration options.
- Localization: Corrected various spelling and text errors across multiple languages.
- General stability: Applied additional fixes to content and systems introduced since Patch 2.1.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Gives Players Plenty of Reasons to Return
Between the Edgerunners-inspired story content, dual-wielding mechanics, console mod support, and expanded character customization, Update 2.5 offers a substantial selection of new features.
The addition of Night City Tours and new tarot collectibles also provides fresh activities for players who have already completed the main storyline.
Meanwhile, improved graphics technologies, performance optimizations, and numerous bug fixes should make the overall experience more polished.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 releases October 22 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, followed by Nintendo Switch 2 a few days later.
For returning mercenaries and newcomers alike, Night City is offering new adventures, new ways to fight, and plenty of fresh chrome to show off.
