Saber Interactive has officially confirmed that Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3 is in the works. Alongside this announcement, the developer released a brief, somewhat playful teaser: a 16-second clip showing the series’ main hero, Ultramarine Lt. Titus, standing motionless in the rain beside the new game’s logo. As of now, no release date or platforms have been confirmed.
Surprising Sequel Announcement
On March 13, Saber Interactive revealed it is moving forward with a direct sequel to Space Marine 2, which launched only six months ago. This quick turnaround is unexpected, especially since Space Marine 2 continues to receive updates and fresh content.
Minimal Teaser, Big Hype
The teaser itself doesn’t reveal much beyond the stormy backdrop and a stern-looking Titus, but it’s enough to spark excitement among fans. According to John Bert, deputy CEO of Focus Entertainment Publishing, the goal is to deliver:
“An immersive campaign, a multiplayer mode, and innovations that will redefine the standards of third-person action games. Developed in close collaboration with Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 will take the genre to new heights by introducing large-scale battles that are even more spectacular.”
A Long Road Ahead
Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed the studio is “now starting to develop” Space Marine 3, suggesting the new game is still years from launch. However, the wait shouldn’t match the 13-year gap between the original Space Marine and last year’s Space Marine 2. Meanwhile, Saber plans to continue supporting and expanding Space Marine 2 “over the coming years.”
Continuing Support for Space Marine 2
Later this year, Space Marine 2 will receive a highly anticipated horde mode, accompanied by a new enemy type and additional weapon. These updates underscore Saber’s commitment to keeping Space Marine 2 fresh and exciting, even as development on the next chapter ramps up.
