The Long Wait for Judgment Day Continues
If you’ve been gearing up to save John Connor from the relentless T-1000, you’ll have to hang tight a little longer. Terminator 2D: No Fate, the retro-inspired side-scroller from Bitmap Bureau and Reef Entertainment, has been hit with yet another delay, but this time there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Earlier this year, the throwback shooter was set for a Halloween launch, only to be postponed to late November due to tariffs, according to the publisher. Now, fans can mark December 12 as the new and (hopefully) final release date for both digital and physical editions.
A Message to Fans: “We’re Almost There”
In a recent Steam post, Reef Entertainment confirmed the delay and explained the reasoning behind it. While the studio already has the physical discs ready to go, it needs extra time to assemble and ship out the collector’s editions properly.
“We are sincerely sorry for the repeated delays,” reads the statement. “We don’t take your patience for granted, and we never want to disappoint our community. Our goal has always been to deliver the game that you deserve, and we’re almost there. Thank you again for standing by us. We’re incredibly grateful, and we can’t wait for you to finally experience Terminator 2D: No Fate soon.”
Despite the setbacks, the tone from the developers remains optimistic, suggesting that the long-awaited launch is finally within reach.
A 2D Twist on a Sci-Fi Classic
Terminator 2D: No Fate reimagines the iconic Terminator 2: Judgment Day story in an old-school, side-scrolling format. Players can step into the boots of Sarah Connor and the legendary T-800, teaming up to protect young John Connor from the shapeshifting T-1000.
The game also takes the fight into the future, allowing players to control an adult John Connor in levels set during humanity’s brutal war against Skynet. It’s a nostalgic blend of action and storytelling that pays homage to both the original film and classic arcade games.
Collector’s Editions and Pricing
When Terminator 2D: No Fate finally launches, fans will have two versions to choose from:
- Standard Edition – $60
- Collector’s Edition – $120
The premium version will include:
- A reversible box art sleeve
- A cloth poster
- A 25mm collectible metal arcade coin featuring the game’s logo
- A full-color manual
- A custom collector’s box
For die-hard fans of the franchise, the Collector’s Edition looks like the ultimate tribute to the Terminator legacy.
Final Thoughts
While the delays have been frustrating, Reef Entertainment’s commitment to quality is clear. If everything goes as planned, Terminator 2D: No Fate will finally hit shelves on December 12, giving fans the retro Terminator experience they’ve been waiting for.
