Capcom is granting Monster Hunter Wilds players an extra day of beta access following a PlayStation Network (PSN) outage that made the previous test session unplayable for a full 24 hours.
PSN went offline around 3 p.m. PT on Friday, February 7, and remained down until roughly the same time the following day. Sony hasn’t shared much about the cause, beyond calling it an “operational issue,” but it did compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers by extending their memberships for five additional days.
Naturally, the outage meant no online gaming for PlayStation users, and certain single-player titles that require server checks or continuous internet access were also affected.
Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Extension
One high-profile casualty was Monster Hunter Wilds’ second beta weekend. Originally slated to run from Thursday, February 6, through Sunday, February 9, the test period was cut short due to the downtime. In response, Capcom has now confirmed a 24-hour extension to the next beta session, meaning it will begin on Thursday, February 13, and conclude on Monday, February 17, rather than Sunday, February 16.
Here’s the revised beta schedule:
- Start: Feb. 13, 7 p.m. PT / Feb. 14, 3 a.m. GMT
- End: Feb. 17, 6:59 p.m. PT / Feb. 18, 2:59 a.m. GMT
Capcom also confirmed that participants can still earn the usual in-game bonuses during this extended period, which will be available in the final release.
A Fearsome New Foe
Despite last week’s downtime, beta players still had a chance to face off against Arkveld, a formidable new monster introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds. The full game is set to launch on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
