After months of tech demos and mods, ARPG/base-builder hybrid Cygnus Enterprises becomes one of the first commercial games to integrate generative AI into its dialog and characters. Representing the first step down the path to the AI-enhanced future of the games industry, the feature went live today on Steam for players who want to be there on the ground floor as this new era kicks off.
Players are able to chat and interact with AI-controlled NPCs that respond in real-time. In order to achieve this, developer Team Miaozi partnered with Inworld AI, whose powerful platform enables intent recognition and translates dialogue into in-game actions. This doesn’t just help make the AI characters come alive as companions but also lets them make themselves useful to the players in more practical ways too.
Cygnus Enterprises is a hybrid Action RPG that features base management elements, set in the alien frontier world of Mytilus. Players battle hostile alien creatures, explore exotic locations, and gather resources to expand their base and unlock new powerful weapons and armor. The game is currently nearing the end of its Early Access period on Steam, with a full launch planned in the coming months.
Following a presentation that was one of devcom’s most popular talks – with every seat filled and a crowd watching outside on monitors – the game’s AI update has just launched for the public and is available to play right now. Team Miaozi and Inworld are working continuously on improving the underlying technology, but are eager for fans to get their hands on the feature and believe now is the perfect time to open access to the playerbase.
