Striking Distance Studios’ action horror game did not live up to its expectations but still did more sales at launch than the Dead Space remake did – in Europe. It was directed by Dead Space series co-creator Glen Schofield, that’s why the two titles are always compared. That’s why everybody wanted it to be a successor to Dead Space. Now the game got an update on all platforms that allows the end user to customize the dynamic range of the visuals on screen.
Update 1.12 hit that game on Valentine’s day. It did not add anything else than this HDR option and some bug fixes. Earlier updates such as 1.05, added quality changes and fixes. After that, update 1.06 enabled ray-tracing on Xbox Series X. Unfortunately, players are still reporting a number of bugs and issues, but the studio is working to make the most out of this game.
The Callisto Protocol 1.12 Patch Notes – February 14, 2023
- Added HDR calibration settings so users can adjust darkness levels to their preferences via the Options menu.
- Added fixes for game crashing issues.
- Addressed random stuttering and frame rate drop issue.
- Added general performance improvements.
- Added stability fixes.
- Other minor tweaks.
The Callisto Protocol is far from a bad game, but it’s not near a good game either. It’s an audio-visual climax, but the combat mechanics and predictable writing are ruining the experience. Nonetheless, Striking Distance Studios’ The Callisto Protocol is a more than strong start for a freshly opened game developer studio.
