Nintendo didn't hold back with announcements, let's see the biggest ones. #nintendo #nintendodirect #zelda #zeldatrailer @NintendoAmerica @NintendoEurope
This year’s Nintendo Direct had some big bangs to shoot, but our beloved plumber didn’t participate. My biggest favorite was of course the new Zelda trailer but there were more exciting announcements. With a whopping 40-minute runtime Nintendo made sure that everybody gets some good news to their liking.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
BOTW was a selling point for the Switch in a lot of people’s eyes, including myself. The game became synonymous with the handheld and was a great ambassador for the company too. Given it’s a very very strong brand with a huge history of successful episodes, the sequel was a no-brainer.
Metroid Prime Remaster
The fan-favorite title was originally released in 2002 for the Gamecube and Wii and was the first game in the series to use first-person perspective and 3D graphics. The remastered version offers modern dual-analog controls, but players can play using the original control settings too. Also, new difficulty options got implemented. Metroid Prime Remastered is already available in the eShop.
Octopath Traveler II Demo
Square Enix’s successful RPG from 2018 gets a sequel, which is very close to release now. Players can play the prologue of the new entry of the series for three hours and carry over their saved game data to the full game. Octopath Traveler II will arrive on Switch, PS5, PS4, and PC via Steam on February 24, 2023.
Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Games Coming To Nintendo Switch Online
Nintendo went in for the nostalgia factor too, announcing that a handful of the Game Boy-era games will be available for the Switch. Some of the playable games at launch are:
- Tetris
- Super Mario Land 2 – 6 Golden Coins,
- The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX
- Gargoyle’s Quest
- Kirby’s Dream Land
- Metroid II – Return of Samus
and many more will be added along the way.
