You Can Get Free Skins In Overwatch 2 – Again
Blizzard resurrects an old currency, due to the negative feedback from long-time players.
The transition from Overwatch 1 to Overwatch 2 took a heavy toll on the game’s community. Free loot boxes were gone, they had to choose the paid battle pass to get new heroes, Overwatch coins were eliminated, and the skin prices skyrocketed. So players were dissatisfied and weren’t afraid to voice their opinions.
A recent blog post reflecting on the end of Season 2 revealed good news. A new hero, match-making improvements, and bringing back Overwatch Credits. Previously called Legacy Credits, all of the players can earn 1500 of the so-called currency in the upcoming Season 3 in Overwatch 2. Premium battle pass owners can earn 500 extra. The dev team updating the Hero Gallery too, meaning that all the epic and legendary skins prior to Overwatch 2 will be purchasable for Overwatch Credits. This includes skins from the seasonal events too, so now players can finally pick up Witch Mercy, Surf ‘N’ Splash Torbjörn, or Snowman Wrecking Ball any time of the year without waiting for the event to come.
In addition, every legendary skin’s price will be lowered to 1500 Overwatch Credits, so the free players too can stack up enough credits to buy at least one legendary skin for themselves. Given that a lot of players already have a large number of credits, developers will find additional ways to use the currency in the future.
These changes aren’t the end of our journey to make Overwatch 2 a more rewarding game to play – they’re just the beginning. We have more updates coming in future seasons, and we’ll be reading your feedback to understand what’s working, and what isn’t, for all of you.

The community was very welcoming of this blog post as I saw from the comments. If a game developer cares about their players and community is always good news.
