Marvel Rivals is switching up its seasonal schedule so that players can look forward to a fresh hero every month. This significant change starts with Season 3, expected to kick off sometime between July and August.
Shorter Seasons, Faster Hero Drops
According to details shared in the Marvel Rivals Season 2 Dev Vision, the new plan reduces each season’s length from three months to two. Under this setup, new heroes will debut at both the start and midpoint of every season, delivering fresh characters at roughly monthly intervals. For comparison, Overwatch 2 follows a similar season length but typically adds a new hero every two or three seasons—meaning Marvel Rivals fans will see heroes far more frequently.
Season 2 Highlights
Season 2, set to launch on April 11, features a Hellfire Gala theme with the addition of Emma Frost at the outset. Ultron will join the roster around six weeks in, marking the season’s midpoint. In contrast, Season 1 introduced all four members of the Fantastic Four; however, NetEase has clarified that future seasons (like Season 2) will generally include two heroes rather than four.
Though shorter seasons may hint at shorter battle passes, NetEase has stated it will share further details on any adjustments to progression or rewards down the road.
New Skins and Gifting System
Season 2 also debuts new color variations for popular skins, although it’s unclear if these variants will require a separate purchase. Additionally, the game will introduce a gifting system that allows players to send skins to friends. Fans can also look forward to updated team-ups, including a fresh combination for Captain America and Winter Soldier. However, some collaborations—such as the trio of Thor, Captain America, and Storm—will be removed entirely.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 launches on April 11, ready to offer players a faster cadence of updates, more customization options, and an exciting roadmap for monthly heroes in the seasons ahead.
