The Old Republic was met with positive reception upon release and has received several updates and expansion packs. The game gets these updates and expansions since this day.
The graphics are spectacular to watch, especially in the cinematic cutscene. It almost feels like a movie. The game has a Star Wars-like mood in its design department. The character creation screen is well-made where you can browse through species (races) and classes because of the clear design. They always love to give the color light blue in SW games which became a tradition in this franchise. It is a really good feeling to the eyes to watch and makes navigation easier. In the world, this MMO looks like a solo RPG game with a lot of cutscenes, talking NPCs, and an adventure-like environment. The character models are not the most realistic, but it has a charm that works well with the system. The music and sounds are a homage to any Star Wars movies and series. It is really interesting to listen to while you run around the amazing world of the Old republic.
Gameplay of Star Wars: The Old Republic
The first thing, you have to do, is to choose from the two main factions, which are the good old Republic and the Sith Empire. Those have an influence on the gameplay morality and choice you make in the story, it will affect your pc. The species and class selection creation screens are diverse. You have so many possibilities to create a character. As you can see, they put every popular character’s races like Ahsoka Tano’s or Darth Maul’s. Not all classes are available to each species, but with the Legacy system, you can choose them for your character through an in-game currency.
Eight classes you can select: the Trooper, Smuggler, Jedi Knight, and Jedi Consular for the Galactic Republic, the Bounty Hunter, Sith Warrior, Imperial Agent, and Sith Inquisitor for the Sith Empire. Because of the good design, you can switch between them before you choose your desire. The gameplay resembles classic MMORPG. You get missions, you make choices, gain XP, battle monsters and hostile characters, and fulfill the destiny of your character in the storyline. You have your own ship depending on the class to which you can travel. Certain pieces of this ship can be upgraded, allowing them to perform better in space combat missions. You can meet companions who craft items and gather resources which are called a passive crafting system, Crew Skills. Each of your characters gets five different companions in the storyline. They are also influenced by the light/dark choice system.
This game is a very good homage to the Star Wars world. Nothing says it better, that this game influenced some artists to draw comics based on the story of the Old Republic. It is a classic style MMORPG for everyone who loves the genre. It is recommended to try it at least once. It is worth your money and time. You can get the game here: https://www.swtor.com/
