They have shared their ideas for the changes to items which will be the first step of a general gear reform. The team also lifted the veil of secrecy from the new, endgame boss instance, and plans to add two new quests. The update will be implemented in the first half of April.
“We wanted to meet the expectations of our players by giving them something that will make the gameplay more exciting at various character levels. We bought out coffee from a nearby store, sat down, and brainstormed. After throwing many ideas into the trash bin, we finally came up with a concept that was met with a lot of positive feedback from our community. To be honest, we are very happy and grateful for all the comments. However, we’ll keep monitoring the situation to check if additional balancing is in order.” says the founder of the studio, Krzysztof Danilewicz.
The upcoming update will be the start of a gear reform targeted at all players, no matter their level. The studio stated that this process will be divided into stages with stage one involving the biggest and most important changes.
The patch focuses on legendary gear and aims to make it more prominent and useful at all stages, and also to make the gameplay more varied. The idea is to let players embed their gear with modifiers that increase the power of their characters. Legendary gear will be given slots where players can insert the so-called drifs, and the modifiers they provide can be upgraded and merged (with some restrictions, of course, to make it impossible to make overpowered builds).
That’s not all, because Whitemoon Games also announced two new quests and an instance that will be a challenge even for the most seasoned players at max level. It will be an extra opportunity to acquire new gear. As they mentioned on their website, the instance itself is an old concept that proved to be interesting enough to be included in the upcoming update. The studio also shared a fragment of the instance itself and one of the opponents.

Broken Ranks is the successor to the MMORPG The Pride of Taern. It boasts a unique, turn-based combat system and a grim, low-fantasy world seen from an isometric view. The title is reminiscent of such classics as the HoM&M series or Baldur’s Gate. Adventurers will be able to find a lot of story-driven quests and a vast, interesting world ready to be explored alone, in a group, or with guildmates.
Broken Ranks is available on PCs through a client.
