Upcoming Multiplayer Sandbox RPG “Rivenworld” Launches Kickstarter Campaign

RivenWorld: The First Era is an Open-World Sandbox Multiplayer RPG game set in medieval times which takes place on a cursed island off the coast of Europe. Explore a vast world either solo or with friends, and create your own destiny as you fight for your land, gather resources, and construct your own settlement. RivenWorld also features a needs system, so you’ll need to hunt or fish for food and attend to your needs as you go.
This is a project the game’s creator, Zackary Pedersen, has always dreamt of being able to create, stating the following;
“Ever since I was a kid, I was creating my own worlds in the backyard, pretending to be a knight or a captain of a ship running around. That later translated into gaming, where I built unique server ideas on Minecraft and ran roleplay communities on other games. I’ve always wanted to make my own game while playing with friends, we had the idea to make a medieval sandbox open-world multiplayer game, and then we started working on it.”
The game’s current building system is heavily inspired by popular titles such as Minecraft and 7 Days to Die, and allows players to build using a “block-based system”. Additionally, the game features a “Runes” system which allows you to grow stronger by collecting unique runes placed at shrines throughout the world.
When you’re not collecting runes, you’ll be able to fight other players with a variety of melee weapons. You may even be able to claim the throne as king of the realms if you’re good enough. Eventually, the developers hope to introduce long-ranged siege-based weapons and a more advanced combat system inspired by games like Mount and Blade.

- Building your own structures
- Upgrading your powers by collecting unique runes
- Hand-to-hand combat against other players using a plethora of weapons
- A survival system inspired by Rust, mixed with Runescape
- Modding support
The developers are currently seeking to raise funds to finalize the development of the game through their Kickstarter campaign and plan to release the title in Q4 of 2023 on Steam.
